Aperture Is an American fine art Photography magazine, The content is mainly interviews, biographys and then photography work. I like this magazine but Its a very structured up tight magazine.
The cover is good as it put's all the focus on the actual photography work, the title is still just a simple sans serif font which is clean but could do with a refresh. Ideally I would want as little as possible on the front cover to put the emphasis on the work.
These two pages are interview pages, the content is plain and just sits back on the page, nothing too interesting and it all feels the same. It doesn't feel like their having a conversation. The good aspect of this is that the magazine has pushed the leading up a bit making the lines incredibly clear and readable.
Standard perfect bind, this is great but a stitch bind would allow the pages to fold flat while browsing through the magazine allowing you to see full spreads and not have a fold in the inner spine.
The magazine consists of one type of stock, this is standard but if you variated across gloss and a matt you could put different emphasis onto your photography pages and articles.
Rational:
An editorial investigation of print & technology with a focus on grid & layout.
I am going to produce a magazine supplement layout focussing not only on its print & binding element.
