Modern No4 Development

here you can see my final letterform compared to the Didot A I based my typeface on, some obvious similarities but overall its considerably different.

You can start seeing in other letters which are more complex the level of difference between Modern No4 and didot.

This was the hardest letter I have ever made. The curves of the S were ridiculously hard to produce within illustrator due to the limitations of the vector based tools. the only imperfection besides a few slightly lobsided angles are the bottom right bit of the S, I could not get this right and after working incredibly hard on it I kind of just left it like it was therefore producing a letter to the limitations of the software and my skills.

The imperfection.

More closely the vector points and curves used to produce it.

The top of the S Came out fine for some reason.

Making letters uniform.

The C has a much more prominent imperfection

Serifs:

If anything what I based this font on was the different types of curvey serifs I gave it. This is probably what sets this typeface appart the most. But I feel that making this typeface as curvey (even though its just subtle) has completely changed the characteristics of the letterform from being "cutting edge" to being a bit more casual, this isn't exactly what i was going for but I would rethink how I'd use this typeface in the future.
