After my initial packaging designs which were focussing on black stock and adding the logo on i decided to experiment a bit further by adding a backdrop onto it and generally going for a more generic sport type design. This design was inspired by looking at some of the current ultimate frisbee packaging design specifically the Disc Golf set, it used simple and effective backdrops of shapes and a grey/black colour scheme. I realised i couldn't achieve the same type of finishing as they used on there stock but i still attempted to produce a fairly generic simple version.
This is the backdrop pattern i produced i decided to just keep it simple and experiment with circles and using different tonal values of each to make a gradient across the page. This would sit well against a grey or black background.
Basic packaging template i produced to add artwork onto. The white middle area is where i could just drop the logo in, the white background would help to bring out my logo more against the dark packaging colour scheme.
This is kind of getting there but at this point i didnt like the look of it or the various versions i had produced, for me it had a far too simple look of it and i couldnt think of anyway to get it any better. I didnt like the colour schemes and the acetate colour didnt work against the black it was too dark for the type to show up, so i decided to stop while im ahead and rethink the colour schemes and design.
