Alphabet soup Typeface

As you can see my initial typeface on the left had a lot of tweaking to be done to make the typeface work better as a set, i had to round off the X, Y, Z, A, E, F, H, P and K. The edges made the typeface a bit less approachable and i was going for a friendly laid back and relaxed typeface. Rounding off the Edges would also give it a much more hand drawn feeling. The one letter which stood out the most was the G, there was way too much empty space inside of it so i had to redesign it based on the C.
In order to safe me time and stop me having to draw out the entire sequence every time i made a modification to a letter i stuck the new letter over the old one to see if it works better within the sequence.

I created a lowercase set of letters to try and finish off my weeks project. Some of the letters were easy created by just resizing some of the uppercase.

One of the problems which was picked up in my tutorial was that the letter layout on the name badge wasnt that legible so i played around with different layouts and this is the final one i settled on. The spacings between each letter were very narrow but still legible.
I also created a set of numbers to go with my alphabet this was fairly easy as i just had to cut some of the letters up and rotate them.

This is a little layout experiment i did after my tutorial, it was said that it doesn't show disorganised enough so i decided instead of the normal layout from A-Z to mix it up to show being unorganised.
This is an experiment to add a consistent rule within my typeface, i made sure that all the top left corners were curved, this rounds off my letters nicely and makes sure they work as a set. I did this after some tutorial advice.

Alphabet Soup Partner Typeface

This is some of the typesheets i stuck up to be able to see which letters work and which ones i needed to replace.

This is random snippets of my initial idea process where i got the final ideas from for my partners typeface. It was a fairly random process where i mainly went from letter to letter playing around with different concepts of boldness and filling counters until i  found one i liked or which would fit into a sequence. The main idea i went after was unorganised, messy, friendly and laid back, so if the sequence didn't initially work it wasn't too bad as it would fit within my criteria and i could make the typeface more viable in the later processes.

Alphabet Soup Scetch book work

ADD IMAGE
This is my initial starting point where i started to look at the word inflate and what other meanings it had so i could play around with other words like "exaggarate" and "expand". After careful consideration i decided on Baskerville as my type face as it was a thin type face with serifs. I especially liked the shape of the g.

These are some initial experiments i did to try and find out which letter i wanted to settle on and after careful consideration i decided on the g as it had the characteristics i was looking for and fitted well with my word inflate.

These are some of my final ideas which i will take further to produce for the crit, they both play around the point of exaggerating the space inside of the g and around it to enlarge the letter.
